.: Prescribed Burning

At Woodson Incorporated we have well trained and qualified members on our staff to apply a prescribed or controlled burn to our clients forest.  Prescribed burning reduces the accumulation of natural fuels in the forest, and therefore reduces the risk of intense fires.  Prescribed burning also reduces slash or vegetation after timber harvest to improve access in timber stands, improve forage and other habitat conditions for wildlife or livestock, reduces insect or disease problems and restoring or improving desirable forest conditions.

.: Boundary Line Maintenance

At Woodson Incorporated we can accurately restore and maintain our clients property boundary lines by using our up-to-date GPS technology.  We use only the highest quality of quality of paint to make sure that these lines are highly visible and will endure and last for many years to come.  Even though a property owners neighbor may have an adjacent and well marked boundary line, the landowner needs to keep his or her boundary lines maintained in order to make sure that their land lines and boundaries are correctly marked so that there will be no confrontation or disagreements about property ownership in the future.

.: Herbicide Application

Woodson Incorporated is involved in several methods of herbicide applications.  The use of herbicide saves time and money in many cases.  We utilize our spray equipment for both pine and hardwood plantations.  We have spray rigs to complete almost any spray application needs.  Herbicide applications are used for competition control in plantations and established stands.  We also use our herbicide application for site preparation prior to planting.  Our variety of versatile equipment also allows us to conduct Right-Of-Way brush and weed control.  Our applicators are certified with the State Plant Board and we work hard to ensure that all safety and hazard regulations are met.  We also utilize our GPS capabilities to map spraying boundaries and record spraying information such as location, wind speed, and amounts applied.  Our staff also has the capabilities to assess the type of chemical and method that would best meet your objectives.

Timber harvesting methods are changing daily along with new technology.  As we move into the millinium environmental concerns play a big role in the way we log.  Our commitment to landowners is to provide quality timber harvesting methods while practicing BMPs (Best Management Practices) whether it is a small or large tract of timber.  The staff at Woodson Incorporated is fully trained through the ATTP logger certification.  Our experience in marketing and merchandising of timber helps to maximize profit while maintaining land and water quality.

Woodson Incorporated provides comprehensive inventory and appraisal service for forest management, estate planning, collateral valuation and other related purposes.  Our reports may offer data on all relevant management factors, including number and species of trees, size and volume estimates by each product, insect and disease problems and highest and best use analysis.  Our in-depth analysis is a valuable tool for managing, evaluating and marketing land and timber in a cost effective manner.

.: Geographical Information Systems Mapping and Data Collection

As the need for Geographical Information System (GIS) expanded to natural resources we have met this need for our customers. Using GPS data collectors and spatial analysis we can incorporate mapping layers, such as ownership boundaries, lakes and rivers, right-of-ways, together along with the information related to those layers. For example, we can map right-of-way utility poles, and attach information such as pole type and condition, distance from vegetation, photographs and any other information needed. We also use this technology for timber inventory, herbicide application, wetlands delineation and almost any type of mapping and data collection imaginable. Our staff has expert training and several years experience with Trimble GPS equipment, Arcview, Arc Info mapping and data software. We provide our staff with up-to-date training so that we can produce quality GIS (Geographical Information System) information.

.: Soil Sampling and Mapping

At Woodson Incorporated we offer a soil sampling and mapping service for our clients.  We use the most up-to-date soil sampling kits along with our Trimble GPS units to sample and map these varied and diverse areas on our clients property.  The reason for soil sampling and mapping is to let us and our clients know where the best areas are on their property is to plant different species of trees.  Different trees require different types of soil to best suit their needs and growth.  Testing the soil allows us to place these different trees in the areas we have mapped and sampled to enable the trees to grow more healthy and productive.  At Woodson Incorporated our well trained staff will ensure our clients the most precise and accurate soil sampling and mapping possible.

.: Wildlife and Recreation

At Woodson Incorporated we not only provide the best land and timber management for our clients, we provide excellent wildlife habitat management as well.  Aside from forest products, timberland owners depend on their forest for good wildlife production.  In many cases bottomland hardwood areas are beneficial for both timber production and recreational income.  We specialize in selective thinning and planting of genetically improved seedlings to promote optimal acorn production for wildlife food.  All logging sets, roads, and large openings are seeded to produce vegetation which benefits deer herds following any harvesting activities.  Woodson Inc. can also provide on-site mulching, tree planting, and tree management for recreational facilities such as parks and golf courses.  Landowners take pride in their land and their wildlife and we do our best to promote both.
